Standerton Library Book Top-Up
Mandela Education Programme
Leaving Bedford with the back of our slightly overworked but trusted Quantum packed full of books, we headed toward Standerton for another library visit.
One of the key parts of the
Mandela Education Library Programme
is not just building and delivering libraries, but returning to them. Libraries need to grow with the children who use them, and regular book replenishment keeps the space alive, relevant, and exciting.
This visit was made possible through the continued support of Kaefer, a long-term partner of the Mandela Education Programme. Their support allows us to return to schools and expand the collections in libraries they originally helped fund.
On 26 February 2026, two schools received significant book top-ups:
Maddi Primary School – Standerton
Vukuzithathe Primary School – Secunda
Walking into both libraries, it was clear the spaces are well used and well loved — which is exactly what these libraries are meant to be. Shelves showing signs of use, learners gathering around books, and teachers actively encouraging reading.
Adding new books does more than just fill shelves. It brings renewed energy, fresh stories, and new opportunities for learners to explore.
The Mandela Education Programme works alongside communities to create environments where literacy can thrive. With partners like Kaefer continuing to invest in these schools, each visit becomes another step toward building stronger, more curious learners.
Giving learners the opportunity to discover.
